THANKS TO SOME SPECIAL FRIENDS...........

The following is an excerpt from a letter from Chapter Secretary Allan Buddle to the Eagles Club, thanking them for their support:

"The Chapter has a very modest budget with income made up primarily of a small annual membership fee that also supports the State & National Sons of the American Revolution organizations. Therefore we are very greatful to the Eagles Club of Ithaca for supporting us with the spaghetti suppers over the past three years. The proceeds from those suppers constitute a major source of income for our organization."

"We sinerely appreciate your support & look forward to it's continuation."

The Fingerlakes and the Newtown Battle Chapters of the Sons of the American Revolution will be hosting a special guided summer tour of some of the more important historical sites of the Southern Battles of the Revolution.

Anyone with an interest in that aspect of our Revolutionary War effort is invited to attend. While the majority of the group will be SAR members, and their spouses, you do not have to be a member of the SAR to attend.

We will leave Ithaca, NY on 22 June , pick up a few members along the way, and proceed to VA for a tour of James Madison’s home, and then on to Charlotte, VA and dinner at historic Mitchies Tavern. The following day we will proceed, via portions of the Blue Ridge Parkway , to Charlotte, NC and the Charlotte Historical Museum and the Hezekiah Alexander home. During that time we will visit Patriots Point, the USS Yorktown, Charles Towne Landing and have ample time for optional visits to Ft, Sumpter (for our Civil War buffs,) the old Slave Market, the underground museum , the Magnolia House, and other historic Charleston sights.

On leaving Charleston, while en route to Greenville, SC we will stop in Camden SC for a visit to the Battle of Camden site. On arriving in Greeneville we will have time for a visit to the Bob Jones University Museum of Religious Art, purportedly the most complete such museum in the western hemisphere.

The following day we head for the Battle of Cowpens and the Battle of Kings Mountain and then on to Boone, NC, the home of Daniel Boone before his “OverMountain” adventures. At Boone we will attend the outdoor Pagent “The Horn in the West” presented by Appalachian State University.
